Gladys Wong is a NZ Registered Dietitian and Accredited Dietitian of Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association. She trained and worked as a dietitian in NZ before relocating to Singapore in 1995 to pioneer the nutrition diploma at Temasek Polytechnic. She then returned to clinical/ foodservice dietetics in 2000 at Alexandra Hospital as Chief Dietitian of Nutrition & Dietetics, migrating to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in 2000.
Gladys has been instrumental in initiating local hospital-based practicum placements for Singaporean students pursuing dietetics degree with overseas universities. She also spearheaded Health Promoting and Green initiatives in both hospitals. Gladys relinquished her 18-year headship at end of 2018. Her current portfolio include overseeing dietetic placement education and involved in projects pertaining to health promotion, sustainability, 3D food printing and diabetes remission.
Gladys has served as office bearers with Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association (SNDA) and Diabetic Society of Singapore for numerous terms since 1996. She was Chair of Dietetics Panel with Ministry of Health, member of Allied Health Credentials Evaluation Panel for Dietetics and the completed National Diabetes Prevention & Care Taskforce. She is currently Chair of Membership Subcomm of SNDA. She is also an affiliated member of Foodservice Consultants Society International, and Singapore representative on the Regional Coordinating Council with Global Green & Healthy Hospital, a project of Healthcare without Harm.
