Barakatun Nisak is a Professor and Deputy Dean of Academic (Health Sciences) & Students Affairs at Universiti Putra Malaysia. She was on the MDA council from 2012-2014 and returned in 2017 until now. She is also an active National Dietetics Education Committee (NDEC) fellow, previously known as TFDE. Her previous contributions include initiating the Rising Star Awards to acknowledge the emerging young leader in dietetics and contributing to the dietetics academic landscape and student participation in Malaysia. She inspires continuing to acknowledge members on professional development, especially in academics and developing the special interest groups to lead the evidence-based guidelines promoting multidisciplinary collaboration.
