MsSumaya Islam
Sumaya Islam is a Bangladeshi Clinical Dietitian currently working at Hitech Multicare Hospital and the Kidney Foundation Hospital & Research Institute, Bangladesh. She graduated with Honours in Food and Nutrition from the University of Dhaka in 2001 and completed her Masters in Food and Nutrition from the same university in 2003. She later earned a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from North South University, Bangladesh, in 2022. In 2025, she completed advanced clinical training in the nutritional management of chronic kidney disease (CKD), dialysis, kidney transplantation, renal intensive care, and pediatric nephrology at the Kidney Foundation Hospital & Research Institute, following international guidelines. Sumaya is also a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) and the Bangladesh National Nutrition Council (BNNC). She has published research nationally and internationally in the fields of geriatric and child nutrition and serves as an Editor of the Asian Young Dietitians Network (AYDN). Her professional interests include clinical renal nutrition, weight management, pediatric nutrition and international collaborative research in dietetics.
