Integrating NCP into Electronic Health (eHIS): Experience from Ministry of Health

Moving towards the era of technologies, implementation of information technologies (IT) in patients’ healthcare had been seen as a strategy in improving healthcare services. Numerous amount of money spent on the development of various electronic health systems aiming for better deliverance of services in patients care. Activities like innovation conferences and courses had become a platform in findings new idea for IT implementations to improve the quality of healthcare services including medical nutrition therapy services. With IT application, time is preserved and deliverance of service is easier and faster thus the implementation of nutrition prescription is more convenience.

Patients will able to get an early and accurate medical nutrition therapy, which perhaps will give a better outcome in the patient’s nutritional status. Interactions between medical practitioners were boundless since all related documentation pertaining to a patient’s health can be easily accessed and discussed at any time and anywhere while the confidentiality of the patient’s record remains the same. As we progress to the technology-based country, IT application not only used in integrating nutrition care process into an electronic record, IT apps are also used to facilitate and accommodate dietitians by providing tools to assess and monitor patient’s oral intake as accurate as possible for better prescription of dietary intervention without burdening the patients.
