Assessment

The elderly have multiple diseases that require integrated health services with a multi-disciplinary approach and interdisciplinary collaboration. Using secondary data, more than 1.1 billion people worldwide and half of the elderly population in Indonesia suffer from hypertension. In-depth interviews, hypertension is one of the top ten diseases in PUSKESMAS Loakulu of Kutai Kartanegara district and Jongkang village, and the most is elderly. Revitalization of elderly POSYANDU through cadre empowerment is needed. Because they never received nutrition education about an elderly hypertension directly from the dietitians.

 

Diagnosis

Food and nutrition-related knowledge deficits related to the lack of prior nutrition-related education as evidenced by cadres who have never received nutrition education especially for.elderly hypertension.

 

Intervention

Multilevel nutrition education model through cadre empowerment with attractive games and audio-visual media. The first is conducting cadre training, and then, the trained cadre will deliver nutrition education to the elderly with mostly hypertension problems.

 

Monitoring & Evaluation

All cadres actively participating in the attractive game during training. The evaluation results were the increase of cadre's knowledge on balance food and nutrition therapy for hypertension, and all cadres get the benefits of training. Secondly, at the time of POSYANDU elderly service by trained cadres obtained monitoring results that all seniors actively follow the whole series of activities, and obtained evaluation results in the form of 92% of seniors are satisfied with the services provided by trained cadres (including the category of excellent service) and gives a positive reflection.
